When we enter the study programme, a research journey begins: we meet each other in the studios, the workshops and workrooms, in the corridors, in the café and on the terrace. Students and teachers have the same research objects: the painted picture, the drawn work, the printed sheet, the embroidered fabric, the dissected photo, the staged performance.

This research journey has many thematic ramifications and links: Landscape, still life, interior, human and animal portraiture, micro and macro worlds, abstraction and the body as an immediate site of discourse.

The interweaving with the other areas of art and cultural studies at the Institute makes for an exciting interpenetration of media and promotes an understanding of painting and printmaking in great diversity.
